Worked side by side with Board Certified Criticalists assigned to the daily caseload in ICU. Sample cases included: HBC, post-op thoracotomies, septic abdomen, manual ventilation of neurological patients, anemic and thrombocytopenic patients and post-arrest supportive care.

Provided immediate stabilization and performed sensitive diagnostics to critical patients presenting through the ER service.

Spent several weeks training with the Internal Medicine department working with endoscopy procedures and learning specific diagnostics for patients requiring extensive work up.

Florida Veterinary Referral Center

04/2011 - 01/2012 CVT -Head ICU Technician

Provided leadership in the development of the flow and daily operation of the Intensive Care Unit.

Duties included caring for patients admitted through the Surgical, Internal Medicine, Critical Care and Emergency services. Care varied from neurological observation to extensive monitoring of the laterally recumbent and/or comatose patient, blood sampling to administration of blood products, and notifying veterinarian of patient status or behavioral changes.

Responsible for many levels of critical care in our ICU ward. Experienced in placing central catheters, performing and directing CPR procedures, interpreting ECG readings, handling and administering blood products for transfusions and stabilizing post surgical and neurological patients. Emergency service responsibilities include triage, pulling blood and running diagnostic tests, taking patient radiographs, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, calculating drug doses and administering intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications and communication to clients effectively under high stress situations
