Publish job listings

You can post, modify or delete job posts from your Relief Rover employer account anytime, as long as your membership is active. You can access the job posting function in two ways after logging in:

1. From your dashboard

Your dashboard is the easiest way to navigate all the great features of your Relief Rover account. Clicking on the post jobs icon will take you directly to the job posting page.

2. From the navigation menu

After logging in, you’ll see a my account tab in the top right corner of the navigation menu. Hover over this to see a dropdown list of navigation items. Clicking on post a job will take you directly to the job posting page.

Completing the job posting form

The job posting form includes both general and detailed job information to help you get the position filled, and to help relief professionals decide if they’re a good fit for the role. We’ll walk you through the questions below, and provide some tips on how to make your job post stand out.

In a hurry? Save a draft of the job posting you’re working on and publish it later – just be sure to fill in all the required fields (marked with an asterisk*) on the form, and then click the preview button at the bottom. On the next screen, click the save draft button. You will find your job posting draft by navigating to your dashboard and clicking the manage jobs icon. 

Job title, location and practice/business type

The job title is the most important part of your post, so you’ll want to make a good first impression. Not too long, not too short, and enough details to stand out. 

A good example of this is “Relief vet for maternity leave, December – February” or “Working at home taking after-hours video calls!”. Job titles that are just “Veterinarian” don’t say a lot to relief professionals!

Location is another important field that relief pros will often search for, so it’s best to list this as City, State. In the case of remote positions (such as telemedicine), select the “remote position” checkbox. 

Your practice or business type will usually be one or two categories, ranging from general and emergency practice, lab animal to shelter practice. To select more than one option, hold down the Ctrl key on Windows (⌘ command key on Mac) at the same time you are selecting. Click on the option again to deselect.

Species, skills and job details

The following section asks for information that is specific to each practice and role, so that relief professionals can be better prepared for an interview / taking the job. 

In addition to requirements like specific dates or weeks, include details like main responsibilities and tasks (scope of practice), species your practice works with, salary and preferred experience level. For some hard-to-hire locations or positions, consider including accommodation and travel costs

Having flexible dates is always a good idea, as it will attract more candidates to the role. Simply select the checkbox “this job has flexible dates” instead of start and end dates

For the job description text area, use this opportunity to introduce yourself and the role, what you’re looking for, and next steps for interested candidates.

Company details

The final section of the job posting is about your practice or company: how do you describe your organization, what are your operating hours, what is your website link?

Your featured logo or image is the final required step before you preview or save a draft. It’s always a good idea to save a draft first, then preview. 

From the preview, you’ll see how your job posting is displayed to relief professionals. You can make further edits by clicking “edit listing”, or clicking the Submit Job button to publish. You’ll know that your job has been published once you see a confirmation message on the next screen. Hooray!
